Etymology edit
Inherited from Old Ruthenian ко́тка (kótka), from Old East Slavic ко́тъка (kótŭka), from Proto-Slavic *kòtъka. Equivalent to кіт (kit) + -ка (-ka). Cognate with Bulgarian ко́тка (kótka), Polish kotka.
