editDeverbal from зраўня́ць (zraŭnjácʹ, “to flatten; to equalize”), a verb derived from ро́ўны (róŭny, “flat; equal”). Cognate with Russian у́ровень (úrovenʹ), which may have influenced the otherwise unexplainable initial inserted vowel.
