From Proto-Turkic *oyna- (to play).[1]

Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (ojna-, to play); Uyghur ئوينىماق (oynimaq, to play), Turkish oynamak (to play), Tuvan ойнаар (oynaar, to play), Yakut оонньоо (oonnyoo, to play), etc.
