From Proto-Turkic *yan- (“to burn (intr.), blaze up”). Cognate with Turkish yan- (“to burn (intr.)”)

2. to flame, to blaze
3. (figurative) to burn (with passion)
4. (of food) to burn (to become overheated to the point of being unusable)
5. to tan, to suntan, to sunbathe
6. (of a sauna) to become heated, to reach the right temperature
