Etymology edit

From an Iranian compound, whose constituents are cognate with Persian دندان (dandân, tooth) and بند (band, tie). Old Georgian დანდალი (dandali) is related.

  1. bit (piece of metal placed in a horse's mouth and connected to the reins to direct the animal)

      Etʻē kapicʻe?s anur i kʻitʻs nora; ancʻucʻanicʻe?s dandanawand [translating ψέλιον (psélion)] ənd kzaks nora.
