Etymology 2Edit

Probably from Old Armenian թամբք (tʿambkʿ) and so a by-form of թամք (tʿamkʿ, saddle; body of a cart). Possibly contaminated with թափք (tʿapʿkʿ, sheath, scabbard): for the sense association compare Russian кузов (kuzov, basket; body of a carriage).
