Etymology edit

According to Ačaṙyan from earlier *թէթեղն (*tʻētʻełn), reduplication of the root *թիղ- (*tʻił-) or *թեղ- (*tʻeł-), from Proto-Indo-European *ptel-, from the root *pet- (to fly). Cognate with Ancient Greek πτῐ́λον (ptílon, feather) and related to թիթեռն (tʻitʻeṙn).
