Etymology edit

Learned borrowing from Old Armenian ճիշդ (čišd). The spelling with -տ- (-t-) adopted in Standard Eastern Armenian, which is unattested in Old Armenian, reflects the commonness of the -շտ- (-št-) cluster in Armenian, e.g. միշտ (mišt), վիշտ (višt), կեշտ (kešt), տաշտ (tašt), դաշտ (dašt), վաշտ (vašt), etc.[1]
