Ottoman Turkish edit

Etymology edit

From a reinterpretation of the Greek expression εις την Κω, which means to Kos. The proper noun was probably influenced by other placenames such as استانبول (istanbul) and by the noun كوی (köy, village; settlement).

استانكوی (istanköy)

  1. Kos (a town and island in the Dodecanese, Greece).

Descendants edit
