Etymology

Borrowed from Arabic أَعْشَارِيّة (ʔaʕšāriyya), the feminine of أَعْشَارِيّ (ʔaʕšāriyy, “decimal”), a term from the plural of عُشْر (ʕušr, “tenth”) that did not catch on after having been employed in the 19th century.
