اوكچه

Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ökče (“heel”); cognate with Azerbaijani ökcə, Bashkir үксә (üksə), Kazakh өкше (ökşe), Kyrgyz өкчө (ökcö), Southern Altai энчек (enček), Tatar үкчә (ükçä), Turkmen ökje and Uyghur ئوكچە (okche).

Noun

اوكچه • (ökçe)

1. heel, the rear part of the foot, where it joins the leg

   Synonyms: طوپوق (topuk), عقب (ʿakab)

2. heel, the part of a shoe or sock that covers the foot's heel
3. spur on a door that supports it, and turns in a socket in the threshold
