editCompound of بَا (bā, “mouth”) + مُسْت (must, “before, in front of”), i.e. "that which is in front of the mouth". Ultimately from Proto-Dravidian. For cognates of the latter term in the compound, compare Kurukh [script needed] (mussō, “running from the nose”), Kumarbhag Paharia [script needed] (muso, “snot, the nose”).
