Etymology edit

Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀩𑀼𑀪𑀼𑀓𑁆𑀔𑀸 (bubhukkhā), from Sanskrit बुभुक्षा (bubhukṣā). Cognate with Punjabi ਭੁੱਖ (bhukkha) / بُھکّھ (bhukkh), Marathi भूक (bhūk), Gujarati ભૂખ (bhūkh), Bengali ভুখ (bhukh). Doublet of بُبُھکْشَا (bubhukṣā).
