Etymology

Possibly formed in Ottoman Turkish from تجرات (ticaret, “business”) +‎ خانه (hane, “house”), from Arabic تِجَارَة (tijāra) and Persian خانه (xâne), or possibly borrowed directly from Persian تجارتخانه.
