  1. to dispute, disagree, quarrel, scuffle, recriminate, contend over
    • 609–632 CE, Qur'an, 2:72:
      وَإِذْ قَتَلْتُمْ نَفْسًا فَٱدَّارَأْتُمْ فِيهَا وَٱللَّهُ مُخْرِجٌ مَّا كُنْتُمْ تَكْتُمُونَ
      wa-ʔiḏ qataltum nafsan faddāraʔtum fīhā wa-llahu muḵrijun mmā kuntum taktumūna
      And when you slew a man and disputed over it, but Allah was to bring out that which you were concealing.
