صبيان (ṣibyān, ṣubyān)

    1. plural of ولد(walad, boy)
    2. plural of ابن(ibin, son)
    3. plural of شب(šabb, teenager, young man)

  • In all of the three cases, صبيان is not the main plural, but serves chiefly to explicitly specify the masculine. The use as plural of شب (šabb) is less common, but compare related صبيه(ṣabīyi).
