Borrowed from Classical Persian فالوده (fālūda), reborrowed from Arabic فَالُودَة (fālūda), from Middle Persian [script needed] (pʾlwtk' /⁠pālūdag⁠/, starch jelly, flummery, past participle), from Middle Persian [script needed] (pʾlwtn' /⁠pālūdan⁠/, to strain, filter, purify). Cognate with Bengali ফালুদা (phaluda), Gujarati ફાલુદા (phāludā) and Punjabi ਫ਼ਲੂਦਾ (falūdā).
