Etymology edit
Possibly related to Northern Kurdish نهارتن (nihartin, “to look, watch, glance”) and Feyli Southern Kurdish نووڕین (nûrrîn), which are cognates to Persian نِگَر (negar) and نِگاه (negâh, “look, glance”); see there for further information.
