Related to چالیق (çalık, struck, hit by a blow; bevelled, slanting, awry), and that to چالمق (çalmak, to strike, to hit by a blow). Compare also Ottoman Turkish چلك (çelek, wooden bucket) and Persian چالیک (čâlik, tipcat), چلک (čalok, tipcat), Chagatai چالك (çalk, tipcat).
