Attested also in Classical Syriac ܟܘܪܚܐ (kurḥā, monk’s cell), from Akkadian 𒆠𒅕𒄷 (kirḫu, acropolis, inner sanctum; an enclosed part of a temple sanctuary with restricted access outside of the priestly class). Doublet of ܟܘܼܚܬܵܐ (kuḥtā, hut, shack).
