editAttested also in Classical Syriac ܟܘܪܚܐ (kurḥā, “monk’s cell”), from Akkadian 𒆠𒅕𒄷 (kirḫu, “acropolis, inner sanctum; an enclosed part of a temple sanctuary with restricted access outside of the priestly class”). Doublet of ܟܘܼܚܬܵܐ (kuḥtā, “hut, shack”).
