Inherited from Sanskrit कोष्ठ (koṣṭha, a granary, store-room, a treasure, an inner apartment, hollow in a tree). Cognate to Sinhalese කොටුව (koṭuwa, enclosure, fortress, castle). Doublet of ކޮޓަރި (koṭari), ކޮށާރު (koṣāru), ކޮޑި (koḍi), ކޮށި (koṣi), and ކޮޓި (koṭi)
