From Proto-Indo-Iranian *Haȷ́ínam ~ *Hiȷ́áynam (leather, animal skin, hide), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂e(y)ǵ-í-no-m (goat skin), from *h₂e(y)ǵ- (goat).
