Literally, "to warm one's hand in a burning house". Compare the Kashmiri proverb أکِس دَزان دٲر تہٕ بیٛاکھ وُشناوان اَتھٕ (ạkis dazān dạ̄r tụ byākh wuśnāvān athụ, literally “one's beard is burning and another warms their hand”) with a similar meaning.
