Inherited from Old Marathi तांदुळ (tāṃduḷa), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀢𑀁𑀟𑀼𑀮 (taṃḍula), 𑀢𑀁𑀤𑀼𑀮 (taṃdula), from Sanskrit तण्डुल (taṇḍula). Cognate to Gujarati તાંદુલ (tā̃dul).
