Etymology edit

Borrowed from Classical Persian نقلی (naqlī, imitation, counterfeit) (modern Persian "traditional, historical"). By surface analysis, नक़ल (naqal, imitation) +‎ -ई (), with the former part borrowed from Classical Persian نقل (naql), from Arabic نَقْل (naql).
