Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀡𑀘𑁆𑀘 (ṇacca), from Sanskrit नृत्य (nṛtya). Also see नृत्यति (nṛtyati, to dance). Doublet of नृत्य (nŕtya). Cognate with Punjabi ਨਾਚ (nāc) / ناچ (nāc), Gujarati નાચ (nāc), Sindhi ناچُ / नाचु (nācu), Bengali নাচ (nac), Chakma 𑄚𑄌𑄴 (nāc), Odia ନାଚ (nāca), Assamese নাচ (nas).
