Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘢𑘳𑘝𑘯𑘰 m (putaḷā) (compare 𑘢𑘳𑘝𑘯𑘲 f (putaḷī)), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀼𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀮𑀬 (puttalaya).
