Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘢𑘪𑘰𑘚𑘰 (pavāḍā), Prakrit 𑀧𑀯𑀸𑀬 (pavāya), + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit प्रवाद (pravāda). Doublet of प्रवाद (pravād). Cognate with Gujarati પવાડો (pavāḍo), Hindustani پَن٘وَاڑَا (pãvāṛā) / पँवाड़ा (pãvāṛā), پَوَاڑَا (pavāṛā) / पवाड़ा (pavāṛā), Old Punjabi ਪਾਵਾੜਾ (pāvāṛā).
