Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀫𑀼𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀇 (muttaï), from Sanskrit मूत्रयति (mūtrayati). Cognate with Gujarati મૂતરવું (mūtarvũ), Hindi मूतना (mūtnā), Sindhi مُٽَڻُ / मुटणु (muṭaṇu), Punjabi ਮੂਤਣਾ (mūtṇā) / مُوتنا (mūtnā), ਮੂਤਰਨਾ (mūtranā) / مُوترنا (mūtrnā), Assamese মূতা (muta), Sylheti ꠝꠥꠔꠣ (muta).
