Etymology edit

Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘩𑘰𑘮𑘲 (lāhī), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀮𑀸𑀬 (lāya), from Sanskrit लाज (lājá). Compare Hindustani لائی (lāī) / लाई (lāī), لاوا (lāvā) / लावा (lāvā), Nepali लावा (lāwā), Odia ଲିଆ (lia), ନିଆ (nia), Maithili लाबा (lābā) / 𑒪𑒰𑒥𑒰 (lābā), Sinhalese ලද (lada).
