Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀮𑀼𑀘𑁆𑀘 (*lucca). Cognate with Punjabi ਲੁੱਚਾ (luccā), Gujarati લુચ્ચું (luccũ), Marathi लुच्चा (luċċā), Bengali লুচ্চা (lucca), Assamese লিচ্ছা (lissa).[1]
