Borrowed from Classical Persian وارث (wāris), from Arabic وَارِث (wāriṯ). Compare Gujarati વારસ (vāras), Hindi वारिस (vāris), Punjabi ਵਾਰਸ (vāras) / وارث (vārs̱).
