From Classical Persian آلمانی (ālmānī), from Arabic أَلْمَانِيّ (ʔalmāniyy), from Spanish Alemania, ultimately from Latin Alamannī (“all men”), which was an ancient conglomeration of Teutonic tribes. Cognate with French allemand, Pashto المانی and Turkish Alman. By surface analysis, আলমান (aloman, “Germany”) +‎ -ঈ (-i).
