Etymology edit

Inherited from Sanskrit কম্পতে (kampate, to tremble). Doublet of কম্প (kômpô).

Cognate with Assamese কঁপা (kõpa), Sylheti ꠇꠣꠙꠣ (xafa), Hindi कांपना (kāmpnā) / Urdu کان٘پنا, Rajasthani कांपणौ, Gujarati કંપવું (kampvũ), and Phalura káamba.
