From earlier দুলহা (dulha), most likely borrowed from Hindi दूल्हा (dūlhā), from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀤𑀼𑀮𑁆𑀮𑀳 (dullaha), ultimately from Sanskrit दुर्लभक (durlabhaka, literally "hard to attain or gain"), from दुर्- (dur-, hardly) + लभक (labhaka, attained), itself a compound of the root लभ् (labh, to gain, attain) + -क (-ka, adjectival suffix).
