Etymology

From সন্তে (sonte), from সন্ত (sonto) +‎ -এ (-e), from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀲𑀦𑁆𑀢 (santa), from Sanskrit অস্ (as). Cognate to Sylheti ꠅꠘꠦ (one), Kudmali হঁঁতে , Magahi सतीं , Bhojpuri सन्ते (santē).

   jodi aji ghoroto achilo honte swami,
   tebe ani tömako rakhilö honte ami.

   If my husband had been at home today, I would have taken you in and kept you.
