வெறும் • (veṟum)

1. mere, sheer, bare, just

   வெறும் வாய்ச்சொல் போதாது, செயலிலும் காட்டவேண்டும்.

   veṟum vāyccol pōtātu, ceyalilum kāṭṭavēṇṭum.

   Mere word of mouth isn't enough, it must also be shown in action.

2. empty, plain, blank

   வெறும் சோறை சாப்பிட முடியாது.

   veṟum cōṟai cāppiṭa muṭiyātu.

   Plain rice can't be eaten.
