Particularly: “Doesn't seem to be mentioned by STEDT, and doesn't seem to be a sum of its parts. Luce 1981 appears to mention it as "a, ta kay³; kai:"; if this is the same entry, he compares Old Chinese 桀 (OC *ɡrad, “surpassing, fierce”), whose "surpass" meaning is more clearly reflected in the derivative 傑 (OC *ɡrad, “outstanding”).^[1]”
