Etymology

According to Jost Gippert, from Old Georgian უბნობაჲ (ubnobay) from the root უბანი (ubani) by cutting out the letter 'n': უბნარი > უბარი. The words საუბარი, მოუბარი, ნაუბარი have undergone the same reductive process
