1. to perforate, bore, pierce
   • Exodus 21:6

     ይስዶ ፡ እግዚኡ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ምኵናነ ፡ ፈጣሪ ፡ ወያቅርቦ ፡ ኆኅተ ፡ ኀበ ፡ መድረክ ፡ ወይስቍሮ ፡ እግዚኡ ፡ [እዝኖ ፡] በመስፌ ፡ ወይትቂነይ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ዝሉፈ ።

     yəsdo ʾəgziʾu betä məkʷnanä fäṭari wäyaḳrəbo ḫoḫtä ḫäbä mädräk wäysəḳʷro ʾəgziʾu [ʾəzno ] bämäsfe wäytəḳinäy lotu zəlufä .

     then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life.
