Etymology

Borrowed from Old Javanese saruṅ (sarong), from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *saruŋ (sheath, sheath-like container; to sheathe a weapon). Doublet of ᬲᬳᬸᬂ (saung, sarong, sheath).
