Cognate to Tocharian A śiśäk (“lion”), which is likely influenced by śiśri (“mane”). If common ancestry with Chinese 獅子 (MC srij tsiX) is to be accepted, Proto-Tocharian *ṣīcäke may be tentatively reconstructed, from Proto-Indo-European *sih₂tekó- (“maned one”), which is related to Latin saeta (“bristle”).[1]
