Etymology edit

Unknown. Only attested in Hesychius.

The word has been connected with Old Armenian աղիւս (ałiws, brick),[1] αἰγίλιψ (aigílips, steep) of unknown origin,[2] and ἠλίβατος (ēlíbatos, high, steep).
