ἑλεδώνη
Ancient Greek
editEtymology
editThe formation is similar to χελώνη (khelṓnē) and γογγρώνη (gongrṓnē). The word has been compared with δελεδώνη (deledṓnē, “kind of fish”) by Beekes, who suggests a Pre-Greek etymology.
