  • In chemistry notation, according to conventions developed and formalised under the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), the symbol in the superscript form may be inserted after the sign for the charge of the species (if there is any). According to this convention, it may also used in words, e.g. methyl•.
