Punctuation markEdit

  1. A space or word break, indicating where one word ends and where the next begins.

Usage notesEdit

  • Used to replace spaces in foreign words, such as writing foreign names (ジョージ・W・ブッシュ "George W. Bush") and compound terms, or in children’s books. It is used in a way similar to the Chinese ·.
  • Use to separate list items, similarly to the word and, ampersands, commas, semicolons or forward slashes. E.g.: スマートフォン・タブレット (smartphones and tablets); トリニダード・トバゴ (Trinidad and Tobago); みずみずぞくレベル3・こう500・しゅ500 (WATER / Aqua-Type / Level 3 / ATK 500 / DEF 500).
