Compound of 内 (utsu-, “inside”, bound form) +‎ 足, 脚 (ashi, “foot, leg”).

Cited only to the Shinsen Jikyō of circa 898-901, with the spelling 宇豆阿之;^[1] implying that even in the early Heian period, this word was short lived.
