Etymology edit
From pre-Amami *isogari, from Proto-Ryukyuan *isogi, from Proto-Japonic *isonku.
Within the Amami Islands, cognate with Northern Amami-Oshima 急がるり (ishogaruri), Oki-No-Erabu 急がゆん (ishugayun), Southern Amami-Oshima 急がゆむっ (ishogayum), and Toku-No-Shima 急がり (ishugari). Clearly cognate with Japanese 急ぐ (isogu).
