- Akemashite omedetō gozaimasu. Kotoshi mo dōzo yoroshiku.
- Happy New Year. We’ll be counting on you this year as well.
- 明けましておめでとうございます。今年もどうぞよろしく。
Usage notes
editThe phrase should not be used before the new year has begun. It is often followed by another expression:
- 今年もよろしくお願いします。 ― Kotoshi mo yoroshiku onegai shimasu. ― I hope to see you again this year.
Other variations exist, however, this expression is used to ask for a continuation of a good relationship for the next year.
