Etymology edit

Probably an extended and mutated form of Middle Korean 고노다 (Yale: kwonwo-ta, “to judge right from wrong”). Compare Central Korean 꼬나보다 (kkonaboda, to glare at disapprovingly), 꼬라보다 (kkoraboda, id.), which compounds 보다 (boda, to see).

Verb edit

꼴치다 (kkolchida) (infinitive 꼴쳐 or 꼴치어, sequential 꼴치니)

  1. (Gyeongsang) to glare at; to stare with disapproval
    할배 꼴친다. (Changwon, Gyeongsang)
    Geu os-eun halbae-deur-i kkolchinda.
Old men are going to look badly at those clothes.
